Where: Ermington, in the Parramatta local government area
What they knocked down: A two bedroom weatherboard cottage on a 12.6 metre wide, 537 metre2 block
Why they knocked down: Space! The clients had two young children, and had a very simple dilemma: they needed to make more room.
What they built: The Astra IV
*The ceilings were raised from the standard 2.4m to 2.7 metres to comply with council regulations
*The upstairs floor plan was swapped so the family room was moved to the back of the house to take advantage of city views and a natural breeze
*They upgraded the kitchen benchtops to Ceaserstone, and extended the kitchen cupboards to the ceiling to eliminate cooking grime
*A rear deck was added, with direct access from the kitchen and meals area
