JANDSON HOMES in North Balgowlah

AFTER
Where: North Balgowlah, in the Warringah local government area

What they knocked down: A two bedroom weatherboard cottage on a 12.27 metre wide, 466.9 metre2 block

Why they knocked down: The clients had lived in the house for 30 years, and it needed a lot of work. Renovations would have meant overcapitalizing, but they liked their quiet street and good area.

What they built: The Astra Headline

*In the old house, the master bedroom had faced the street (and traffic noise) and the western sun. The new master bedroom is in a cooler and quieter position, at the rear of the upstairs floor plan

*The façade was changed to include eaves, and the roof was upgraded from concrete tiles to Colourbond

*The clients added a shower to the downstairs powder room, giving them the option of living entirely downstairs in the future.
